Privacy Statement CITS

This privacy statement (the “Privacy Statement”) is designed to inform you about the use of information that you provide to CITS V Service Netherlands B.V. (“CITS,” “we,” or “us”) and the service and products we offer.

This Privacy Statement covers the treatment of personally identifiable information (“Personal Data”) gathered when you are using our services. This Privacy Statement is meant to help you understand what Personal Data we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it. This Privacy Statement should be read carefully prior to using our services as it is important. We have tried to keep the wording of Privacy Statements as simple as possible.

How we comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) is in force as of 25 May 2018. CITS appreciates the implementation of the GDPR and values compliance with the GDPR. CITS is therefore taking all appropriate and necessary steps and actions to ensure compliance with the GDPR and to safeguard your Personal Data.

CITS is currently working on a more comprehensive privacy policy in line with the visa policy and guidance adopted by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the meantime, we want to share this Privacy Statement with you to share the most important details of our collection and use of your Personal Data. As always, we will collect and use your Personal Data with the greatest care during the visa application process and the planning of your trip to the People’s Republic of China.

This Privacy Statement applies to all of the services offered by CITS but excludes any external services that have separate privacy policies that do not incorporate this Privacy Statement. Our Privacy Statement also does not apply to other companies or organizations that advertise our services and that may use cookies and other technologies to serve and offer relevant ads.

Collection and use of Personal Data

We solely transfer your Personal Data to the Chinese embassy in the Netherlands at your express request in order to assist you with your visa application process. This Personal Data contains all information submitted by you including, but not limited to your name, gender, date of birth, place of birth, marital status, citizenship, passport information, telephone number, health record, criminal record, residential address, place of employment, family members and any other Personal Data required for the visa application process.

CITS does not store or keep the Personal Data and only transfers hard copy files of your Personal Data to the Chinese embassy in the Netherlands in order to arrange and obtain your visa and in order to plan your trip to the People’s Republic of China.

Transfer of Personal Data

Your Personal Data will be solely transferred to the Chinese embassy in the Netherlands in order to request and obtain a visa and to plan your trip to the People’s Republic of China.

Security

We use a variety of physical security measures to maintain the safety of your Personal Data. It is important to note, however, that no method of transfer is 100% secure, and thus we cannot absolutely guarantee the security of your Personal Data.

Opting-out

You may revoke any consent given to us with regard to the use of your Personal Data at any time and also generally request CITS to stop using your Personal Data. A withdrawal should be sent to CITS at the contact information set out below. CITS will respond to your request in a reasonable timeframe, and in any event in less than 30 days. CITS will be glad to honor such a request, unless CITS has overriding legitimate grounds for the processing. With respect to any such revocation please note that such may have an impact on your visa application process.
