Tips for Applying China Visa in Hong Kong efficiently
April 23, 2024
To save your valuable time, here are some suggestions for smoothly applying for a China visa at the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (Hong Kong):
1. Complete the application form online, download, print, and sign it (on the first page and page 6). Failing to fill out the form online and ensuring the accuracy of the 5 required fields, or not printing it will cause significant delays. Please make sure to review the "Online Application Instructions" on this website before filling out the form.
2. Check your passport for the following application requirements: (1) Validity is more than six months; (2) More than two blank visa pages; (3) Birthplace/address does not contradicts the "One China" principle; (4) Passport data page is not damaged, heavily stained or water-damaged. It is suggested to renew your passport before applying for a China Visa if your passport cannot meet the requirements.
3. Prepare all the required documents. Please carefully review the "Visa Category" on this website according to the type of visa you are applying for, and have all the necessary documents ready in advance. Keep copies of all the documents. The service area at the visa center provides self-service printing/copying and a photo booth, but only accepts Hong Kong Octopus Card payment. If you are informed by the staff that you are missing any documents (such as a recent photo) after taking the queue number, please make sure to prepare them within the waiting time. This will significantly improve the efficiency of your application.
4. All applicants must take a queue number and proceed in sequence. If you miss your number, you will need to queue again. According to the center's operating hours (9:00-18:00), the deadline for submitting applications is 15:00, and visa collection is until 17:00. You don't need to queue before the visa center opens; it will only result in longer waiting times.
5. Please have cash or Hong Kong debit cards ready. The visa center currently only accepts cash and Hong Kong debit cards. Visa fees and payment standards are prominently displayed on this website and at the center's reception. Please exchange cash at the bank in advance before queuing for a queue number; otherwise, it will cause significant delays.
