(S1) Family member of foreigner(s) staying or residing in China or person who needs to come to China for personal matters (more than 180 days)
Scope of Application
Spouses, parents, children under 18 years of age, and parents of spouses of foreigners residing in China for work, study, or other purposes who enter China for long-term family visit (more than 180 days); and persons entering China for other private affairs requiring residence.
Documents to Upload for Online Review
• Passport: Information page and 2 blank pages;
• Photo: Recent, front-facing, color (white background), bareheaded, official ID photo. Click here to view photo requirements;
• Valid stay or residence certificate (for applicants not holding Mexican nationality). Mexican citizens may upload a scanned copy of their ID card or passport information page;
• Scanned copy of previous Chinese visa. Applicants with no prior visa records may upload their passport information page;
• Photo of the inviter's passport information page and residence permit;
• Invitation letter;
• Original proof of kinship (e.g., marriage certificate, birth certificate).
Documents to Bring When Submitting Passport After Review Approval
• Original passport;
• 1 Visa Photo;
• Visa Application Confirmation;
• Valid Chinese visa (if applicable);
• Original Chinese passport (for applicants who previously held Chinese nationality and later acquired foreign nationality, applying for a Chinese visa for the first time).
Notes
• Foreigners in China for "private affairs" are not eligible to be inviters for S1 visa;
• The inviter's residence period in China must be at least 6 months;
• Holders must apply for a residence permit at the exit-entry administration of the local people's government at or above the county level within 30 days of entry into China.
Special Instructions
• Consular officers may, at their discretion, require applicants to provide additional supporting documents or supplementary materials, or conduct an interview with the applicant;
• Consular officers will decide whether to issue a visa, as well as the validity period, number of entries, and duration of stay based on the applicant's specific circumstances.
