Notice about the new arrangements for Chinese visa application (August 19 update)
We hereby inform our kind customers that, starting from today, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Italy will introduce the following updates on the arrangements about the visa application for China:
Application field:
(1) Applicants who manage diplomatic or service activities or applicants who full fill requirements to apply for courtesy visa;
(2) Staff who travel to China for commercial, educational, technical-scientific, sport and cultural activities, for short and long period;
(3) Family members of staff traveling to China for work (including family members of people who are already in China for work): spouses, parents, minor children and spouses’ parents; cohabitants, adult children and adult children’s spouses who need go to China for urgent reasons;
(4) Family members of Chinese citizens or foreign citizens with Chinese permanent residence permit: spouses, parents, spouses’ parents, children, children’s spouses, brothers and sisters, grandparents, grandchildren;
(5) Long-term students (more than 180 days) who go to China for academic education and their relatives who live with them or visit them in china.
(6) Applicants who need to go to China for a funeral or to assist relatives in serious health conditions;
(7) Applicants who apply for R visa as specialized experts, their spouses and minor children;
(8) Staff who work as crew members;
Please note: Applications for tourist visa, visa for medical treatment or other personal reasons are still temporarily suspended.
Important information:
(1) In principle, before entering China applicants must have completed the anti-covid vaccine produced in China or an anti-covid vaccine recognized by the World Health Organization. Applicants who have fully completed the vaccine produced in China can still benefit from a facilitated application procedure;
(2) For applicants traveling to China for work (visa "M", "F", "Z") it is no longer required to provide the Invitation letter issued by the competent Chinese authorities (Invitation letter PU) in order to apply for visa for the relevant category; for applicants who go to China for employment (who require "Z" visa) it is needed to provide the "Notification letter of foreigner's working permit in the People's Republic of China" or the "People's Republic of China foreigner's work permit";
(3) The family members of staff who travel to China for work reasons can apply for reunion visa or family visit visa by providing the relevant family certificates, it is no longer needed to provide the Invitation letter issued by the competent Chinese authorities for visa(Invitation letter PU);
(4) Family members of Chinese citizens or foreign citizens with a Chinese permanent residence permit can apply for family reunion visa or family visit visa by providing the relevant family certificates;
(5) At the present stage, only long-term students who go to China for academic education (X1 visa) are allowed to go. Short-term students (X2 visa) are temporarily not accepted.
(6) Passengers with permanent residence permit or a valid residence permit (for work, private affairs, long period journalism activity, family reunion) do not need to apply for a visa to travel to China.
(7) From 0:00 on August 24th, Beijing time, those who hold a valid APEC business travel card and a valid study residence permit do not need to apply for a visa to go to China.
Application procedure
(1) The applicant must (except for diplomatic, service or courtesy visa requests) fill out in advance the application form on the visa center website and book an appointment before going to the visa center for the documents delivery. Applications without a complete online form or without an appointment will not be accepted.
(2) To apply for a diplomatic, service and courtesy visa, please directly contact the consular office of the Consulate (email address: ufficioconsolare@163.com);
