(Q1) Family member or relative of Chinese citizen(s) or foreigner(s) with permanent residence status in China (more than 180 days)

Family members of Chinese citizens (spouse, parents, children, children's spouses, siblings, grandparents, maternal grandparents, grandchildren, maternal grandchildren, and parents of spouse) and family members of foreigners with permanent residence status in China (spouse, parents, children, children's spouses, siblings, grandparents, maternal grandparents, grandchildren, maternal grandchildren, and parents of spouse) applying to enter China for family reunion; and persons applying to enter China for foster care purposes.

Documents to Upload for Online Review

Note: The purpose of visiting China for Q1 visa application may be "family reunion" or "foster care", and the required documents for each are different.

(1) For the purpose of "family reunion":

• Passport: Information page and 2 blank pages;

• Photo: Recent, front-facing, color (white background), bareheaded, official ID photo. Click here to view photo requirements;

• Valid stay or residence certificate (for applicants not holding Mexican nationality). Mexican citizens may upload a scanned copy of their ID card or passport information page;

• Scanned copy of previous Chinese visa. Applicants with no prior visa records may upload their passport information page;

• Invitation letter. Click here to download the invitation letter template;

• Scanned copy of both sides of the inviter's Chinese ID card;

• Original proof of family relationship.

(2) For the purpose of "foster care":

• Passport: Information page and 2 blank pages;

• Photo: Recent, front-facing, color (white background), bareheaded, official ID photo. Click here to view photo requirements;

• Valid stay or residence certificate (for applicants not holding Mexican nationality). Mexican citizens may upload a scanned copy of their ID card or passport information page;

• Scanned copy of previous Chinese visa. Applicants with no prior visa records may upload their passport information page;

• Foster care power of attorney notarized by the embassy;

• ID card of the principal (biological parents);

• Proof of kinship;

• Letter of consent to accept foster care;

• Copy of the guardian's ID card;

• Scanned copy of both sides of the residence card in Mexico of the Chinese national parents.

Documents to Bring When Submitting Passport After Review Approval

• Original passport;

• 1 Visa Photo;

• Visa Application Confirmation;

• Valid Chinese visa (if applicable);

• Original Chinese passport (for applicants who previously held Chinese nationality and later acquired foreign nationality, applying for a Chinese visa for the first time).

Notes

• Please distinguish the purpose of visiting China in the invitation letter: "family reunion" for Q1 visa, "family visit" for Q2 visa, and "tourism" for L visa;

• Holders of Q1 visa must apply for a residence permit at the local public security organ within 30 days of entry;

• For applicants whose at least one parent previously held Chinese nationality and are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, in addition to a copy of the birth certificate, please provide copies of both parents' passports and proof of their foreign residency at the time of the applicant's birth.

Special Instructions

• Consular officers may, at their discretion, require applicants to provide additional supporting documents or supplementary materials, or conduct an interview with the applicant;

• Consular officers will decide whether to issue a visa, as well as the validity period, number of entries, and duration of stay based on the applicant's specific circumstances.
