1. Please get the following documents ready:
(1) Visa Application Form and Electronic Photo: Please click here to create an account and log in your account. You can find Application Form on the right top of the Home Page. Please make sure the visa centre you will attend is Manchester, read and tick "I have read and agree to the User Service Agreement" and click Apply Now. For the first step, you need to upload a recently taken standard photo with white background (please check Photo Requirments). After filling out the visa application form, please submit and download your application form. Please print out the complete form and sign on the confirmation page (QR code page) and page 6. You may upload a photo for 3 times to continue with your form. If your form says the photo you uploaded is not qualified, please bring a qualified physical photo when you attend the visa centre.
(2) You do not need to book an appointment. Please visit us during our business hours.
(3) Passport: Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with at least two blank visa pages. A photocopy of the passport's data page and the photo page.
(4) Declaration: Please download and sign our Customer Declaration.
(5) Proof of legal status (applicable for those not applying for a visa in their country of citizenship)
If you are not applying for a visa in the country of your citizenship, you must provide the original and photocopy of your valid certificates of residence, employment or student status, or other valid certificates of legal stay provided by the relevant authorities of the country where the Visa Centre is located.
(6) Photocopy of previous Chinese visas
If you have obtained a Chinese visa before, please provide the photocopy of the last Chinese visa (If your last Chinese visa is on previous passport, please provide a photocopy of the previous passport data page).
(7) Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship)
If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, please provide your last Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page.
If you have ever obtained Chinese visas and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should present the photocopy of your previous passport data page, as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).
We kindly remind you that:
1. Application forms for those who are under 18 years old should be signed by a parent or a guardian. Please be advised to provide birth certificate (original and copy), original Chinese passports or travel documents (original and copy if applicable), passports of both parents (original and copy of information page and signature page) and relevant legal documents of the guardians (original and copy) and passport of the guardians (original and copy of passport data page and signature page).
Notice:
(1) If there is a personal information change on any of the above-mentioned documents, please make a statement and present relevant proof.
(2) The birth certification should be in either English or Chinese.
2. A valid Chinese visa on an expired UK passport is good for travelling to China provided it is used together with a new valid UK passport bearing the same name, sex, data of birth and nationality. If any change is made to the above-mentioned information on the new passport, a new visa shall be applied.
2. Documents requested regarding visa category
(1) Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation (hotel booking confirmation of each day,and also need guest's name on it), etc.
OR
(2) An invitation letter for tourist issued by a relevant unit or an individual in China.
• Invitation issued by an organization (including government at the county level and above, company and public institution) should contain:
(A) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)
(B) Details of the planned visit (incl. arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, accomodation arrangements, etc.)
(C) Information of the inviting party (incl. name of organization or person concerned, contact telephone number, address, official stamp of the organization, signature of the legal representative or individual)
• Invitation issued by a Chinese citizen shall provide the fowllowing documents:
(A) An invitation letter
(B) A hard copy of the Chinese identity card (front side and back side) or travel permit of the inviter
(C) Proof of residence in Chinese mainland if the inviter is holding a travel permit
• Invitation issued by an individual who is a non-Chinese citizen and is holding legal residence in mainland China shall provide the following documents:
(A) An invitation letter
(B) A hard copy of the inviter's passport data page
(C) A hard copy of the legal residence permit in Chinese mainland
3. Notice
(1) According to the requirements of Chinese Embassy and Consulate General, as of 30 April 2018, you may need to come to the Visa Centre in person to submit your application and your fingerprints may be collected. If you want to apply through a travel agency or someone else, the agency/entrusted person will be responsible to confirm with you about the submission and fingerprint collection.
(2) Each applicant must provide all the documents mentioned above. Applicants may not share the supporting documents for their applications.
(3) All the Documents except required original, may be in the form of fax, photocopy or scanned copy, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original documents. All non-original documents must be clear and neat. The inviting individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID or visa and residence permit in China.
(4) If necessary, the consular officer will require the applicant to provide other proof documents or supplementary materials, which may not be listed on this website, in accordance with individual cases or different circumstances.
(5) According to Chinese laws and regulations, the consular officer may request an interview with the applicants and collect their ten fingerprints.
(6) The consular officer will decide on whether to issue the visa or not and on its validity, duration of stay and number of entries in light of specific conditions of the applicant.
