1. Basic Documents

(1) Visa Application Form and Electronic Photo: Please start to apply a visa from the homepage to fill in your application form online. The online application form will require you to upload a recent standard photograph with white background (please check here for photograph requirements).After filling in the application form, please print out the complete form and sign on the 1st and the 8th page. If your electronic photo cannot be uploaded successfully, please submit a recent standard photo when you apply visa in our center.

(2) Reservation Form: It is compulsory to make appointment in advance and submit the application to the Visa Centre during the period of time as you appointed online. After completing the application form, please click 'Appointment' to make the appointment. You need to fill in the application form number and choose the time slot to finish appointment booking. You must download and print the Reservation Form  (please click here to check the sample) and bring the reservation form with you for the visit.
(3)  Passport : Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with at least two blank visa pages.

(4)  A photocopy of the passport's data page and the photo page A4 Size )

(5) Declaration : Please download and sign our separate Declaration. ( Click here).

(6)  Proof of legal status (applicable for those not applying for the visa in their country of citizenship)

If you are not applying for a visa in the country of your citizenship, you must provide the original and photocopy of your valid certificates of residence, employment or student status, or other valid certificates of legal stay provided by the relevant authorities of the country where the Visa Centre is located.

(7) Photocopy of previous Chinese visas

If you have obtained Chinese visa before, you should provide the photocopy of the latest Chinese visa. (If your latest Chinese visa in previous passport, you should also provide the photocopy of the previous passport's data page)

(8) Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship).

If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide the last Chinese passport held and a photocopy of its data page.

If you have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate, as well as the previous Chinese visa page the previous Chinese visa page.


We kindly remind you that:

1.Applications for those who are under 18 years old should be signed by parent and their guardians on the form Section 5. Also they are advised to provide birth certificate (original and copy), original Chinese passports or travel documents (original and copy if applicable), passports of both parents (original and copy of information page and signature page) and relevant legal documents for the guardians (original and copy) plus passport of the guardians (original and copy of information page and signature page).

2.An expired UK passport with a valid Chinese visa is good for travelling to China provided it is used together with a new valid UK passport bearing the same name ,sex ,data of birth and nationality .If any changes are made to the above mentioned  on the new passport, a new visa shall be applied.

2. Supporting Document

1. Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation (hotel booking confirmation of each day, and also need guest's name on it) and the detailed travel itinerary in China, etc.

2. An Invitation Letter for Tourist issued by a relevant unit or individual in China,  air ticket booking record (round tripand the detailed travel itinerary in China .

 

A. Invitation issued by organization (including government at the county level and above, company and public institution) should contain
(1) Information of the applicant (incl. full name, gender, date of birth, etc.);
(2) Details of the planned visit (incl. arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, accommodation arrangements, etc.);
(3) Information of the inviting party(incl. name of organization or person concerned, contact telephone number, address, official stamp of the organization, signature of the legal representative or individual).

B. Invitation issued by personal inviter (including Chinese citizen, residence from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who are holding legal residence in mainland China) shall provide three documents:

A) An invitation letter. B) A hard copy of the identity card (front side and back side) of the inviter. C) Inviter’s proof of address

 

C. Invitation issued by personal inviter who are non-Chinese citizen and are holding legal residence in mainland China shall provide four documents:

A)  An invitation letter. B) A hard copy of the first page of the passport of the inviter. C) A hard copy of the legal residence permit in China. D) Inviter's proof of address.

 

3. Special notes

(1) According to the requirements of Chinese Embassy and Consulate General, you may need to come to the Visa Centre in person to submit your application and your fingerprints may be collected. If you want to apply through a travel agency or someone else, the agency/entrusted person will be responsible to confirm with you about the submission and fingerprint collection.

(2) Each applicant must provide all the documents mentioned above. Applicants may not share the supporting documents for their applications. 

(3) All the Documents except required original, may be in the form of fax, photocopy or scanned copy, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original documents. All non-original documents must be clear and neat. An issuer of invitation letter who is an individual in China should also provide a photocopy of his/her Chinese ID. 
(4) If necessary, the consular officer will require the applicant to provide other proof documents or supplementary materials, which may not be listed in the website, in accordance with individual cases or different circumstances.
(5) According to Chinese laws and regulations, the consular officer may have an interview with the applicants and collect their ten fingerprints.
(6) The consular officer will decide on whether to issue the visa or not  and on its validity, duration of stay and number of entries in light of specific conditions of the applicant.
(7) An expired UK passport with a valid Chinese visa is good for travelling to China while it is used together with a new valid UK passport bearing the same name ,sex ,data of birth and nationality. If any changes are made to the above mentioned information on the new passport , a new visa shall be applied.
