1. Basic Requirements

1.1 Passport

a) Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and with at least 2 pieces of blank visa page.  

b) A photocopy of the passport (the data page that includes the photo, personal information and signature page)

Please note: If you have dual or multiple nationality, you will need to provide all valid original passports. If you have an original passport that has expired before, please provide it as well.

1.2 Visa Application Form and Photos

One completed Visa Application Form and the confirmation page of the form with signatures; two recently-taken (within 6 months) color photos, front view, white background, in 48mm x 33mm size without head covering. (Specific photo requirements, please click here. )  Stapled/taped/clipped/detached photos will not be accepted.

Please note: Complete the visa application form online. Please bring a printed and signed visa application form with you when you come to the Visa Center to submit your application. Please fill in the application form truthfully and completely, and carefully check the information filled in the application form to ensure that the basic identity information is accurate.

Please ensure that you have uploaded the correct photograph of the person detailed in the application form when filling in the online application. The Visa Center may reject any application where the uploaded image is of another person. A new application form with an appropriate photograph will be requested if the application form contains another person's photo. If the online form indicates that the photo is not qualified and cannot be uploaded successfully, Please be sure to bring an appropriate photograph to the Center when you come to submit your application.

1.3 Proof of legal stay or residence status (Applicable to non-Ugandan applicants)

If you are not applying for the visa in the country of your citizenship, you must provide the original and photocopy of your valid certificates or visa of stay, residence, employment or student status, or other valid certificates of legal staying provided by the relevant authorities of the country where you are currently staying.

1.4 Photocopy of previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who have obtained Chinese visas before)

If you have obtained Chinese visas before, you should provide the photocopy of the latest identical Chinese visa. It might facilitate the Embassy  to issue the most appropriate visa to you.

1.5 Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable to foreign citizens who used to have Chinese citizenship).

If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide the last Chinese passport held and a photocopy of its data page.

If you have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should provide original previous passport(s) and present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate, as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

1.6 Where necessary, the consular officer may, as the case may be, request additional supporting documents or supplementary materials from the applicant or request an interview.

 

2. Other Supporting Documents

2.1 Air ticket booking order (round trip).

2.2 Proof of a hotel reservation.

2.3 Bank statement. This should be of the past 6 months, current (maximum 1 month from date of application), all pages should be signed and stamped by the bank. Minimum balance should be 15 million UGX. If the applicant does not have a bank statement meeting these requirements; they can use a relative's bank statement and provide a proof of relationship like birth certificate if it is a parent and marriage certificate for a spouse. They can also use a company bank statement and provide a company recommendation or form 20 if the applicant is a director in that company. 

 

Invitation letter. If an applicant is invited by a relevant entity or individual in China for tourism purpose they need the following documents;

An invitation letter provided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit to live in China. The invitation letter should contain:

a) Information of the applicant: full name, gender, date of birth, passport number etc.;

b) Information regarding the visit: purpose of visit, intended arrival date, intended place(s) to stay, intended duration of stay, relationship between the applicant and the inviting party, details of any financial support to be provided during the stay in China etc.;

c) Information of the inviting party: name, contact telephone number, address, signature etc..

Notes:

1. The applicant shall fill in the application form truthfully, completely and clearly. The application form must be signed in person (minors can be signed by parents or guardians, and indicate the relationship between the two parties).

2. Application documents must be authentic and complete. Falsified or incomplete documents will be rejected.

3. Answer the visa officer's questions truthfully.

4. All the Documents except required original, may be in the form of fax, photocopy or scanned copy, but in accordance with relevant Chinese laws and international practices, consular officers have the right to request the applicant to submit other relevant supporting documents, refuse to issue a visa without giving reasons, and may require the applicant to undergo an interview. The consular officer decides whether to issue a visa and the validity, duration of stay and number of entries of the visa according to the individual circumstances of the applicant.

5. When collecting the visa, the applicant has the responsibility to check the visa info. If you have there is any question, please ask immediately.

6. The applicant shall bear the responsibility for the consequences caused by the following circumstances, and please pay attention to avoid them:

a) The application form is not truthfully filled in, the application form is incomplete, or the declaration information is untrue, resulting in the visa rejection;

b) Visa rejection results from that passport, photo does not meet the requirements, or relevant required application materials has not been provide;

c) Applying for a visa too early that results in the expiration of the visa, or failing to apply for the visa due to some reason, and being denied boarding or entry;

d) The visa expires due to improper arrangements or third-party reasons and cannot be used;

e) failing to check the number of entries, validity, stay period and passport validity before departure, resulting in being denied boarding or entry;

f) Other reasons that the visa cannot be used due to the applicant.

7. All application documents will be kept by the Chinese Embassy. The Visa Center will only return your passport back when you come for collection.

8. If the applicant is a dual national or multi-national, please provide all current valid passports in his/her possession.  Additionally, the previous passport(s) may also be required in support of the application.
